Domain Name Sales Activity – 16th May to 22nd May

Capping off a busy week, no less than four premium domain names were sold through Netfleet last week. We have all the latest details for you including the final transaction values, as well as our own analysis on the domains in question.

Taking out the biggest sale for the week, on the 19th of May we sold escortsdirect.com.au. This domain traded hands for a total price of $1,819.35, and with the ever present search traffic that is directed towards the adult industry, the domain will presumably be used for commercial purposes by its end user – an end user that will likely be attracted by the descriptive keywords used. For now at least however, it appears the domain will serve as an investment for its new owner.

Rounding out what was a busy day for sales on the 19th of May, we were also pleased to oversee the finalisation of the sale for enm.com.au, which ended up at $1,809.45. The domain has been registered with new owner Energy-On Pty Ltd, a Victorian based business that provides end to end utility solutions for multi-tenant environments (referred to as ‘Niche Networks’), from site evaluation and planning through implementation, meter reading, invoicing and credit management.

One of the company’s partners and/or subsidiaries, ENM Solutions, appears the likely explanation behind the domain purchase given said business is currently operating with the domain enmsolutions.com.au. Accordingly, a shorter, more memorable domain name is likely to see a better conversion of web traffic from any of its marketing efforts, while also safeguarding the site from any potential competition or loss in business due to difficulties finding the correct website.

Coming in as the third highest sale for the week, and in what was truly a bargain purchase, met.com.au sold on the 21st of May for $1,542.15. As a short domain that can be used as a name, acronym or abbreviation, and a phrase that is already used by several other businesses in longer format domain names, there is a considerable degree of value in a domain with marketing appeal such as this. This is further highlighted by the Australian search traffic for the term “met” on Google, where 5,400 searches are made per month.

Last but not least, rounding out the week’s premium domain sales was the exchange of newhomes.net.au, which sold for $1,026.25 on the 16th of May. The domain is now tied with its new registered owner The Trustee for Luxury Home Developments Trust, as well as a secondary business affiliated with luxuryhomes.net.au – both of which suggest the domain will likely be used for business purposes. While the domain is of the less popular “.net” variant, this is offset and compensated for by strong keywords that have been consistently Googled by Australians over the last 10 years, including a seasonal spike in volume during January of each year – perhaps it’s those New Year’s resolutions driving all of us to start the year off by looking for new homes!

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.
