What are Domain Snapper Auctions?
Everyday hundreds of domain names expire as the current domain owner has not renewed their domain name licence. Each day, our Domain Snapper Auctions will show a list of these expiring domain names for you to bid on. If you are the highest bidder, we will then attempt to register the domain name on your behalf, that very same day. We offer two Domain Snapper Auction platforms one for Australia (.AU) and one for New Zealand (.NZ).
Why would I want to bid on the Domain Snapper Auctions?
There are hundreds of people who watch these expiring domain names waiting for the chance to register for themselves, including your competitors. Many of these expiring domain names are valuable, highly sought after assets. Using our advanced technology, and in partnership with accredited .au and .nz registrars such as Netregistry, PlanetDomain, MD Web Hosting and more, we have the ability to check, and register, faster than any human can.
When do Domain Snapper Auctions run?
For Australian domain names (.AU), the auction runs from 14:00 AEST to 12:59 AEST the following day (including weekends and public holidays). Between the hours of 13:00 AEST and 14:00 AEST, these expiring domains enter what's known as a domain purge period. This is the period where domain names will become available to be snapped.
For New Zealand domain names (.NZ), the auction runs from 23:30 AEST to 22:30 AEST the following day (including weekends and public holidays). Between the hours of 22:30 AEST and 23:30 AEST, these expiring domains enter what's known as a domain purge period. This is the period where domain names will become available to be snapped.
How does bidding work?
For the Domain Snapper Auctions all bids are proxy bids. This means you can bid the full amount you are willing to pay for that domain at that time. You will only ever pay $1 more than the next highest bidder. You can raise your proxy bid up to the closing moment of the auction. Note that if you are the underbidder then the current price will rise as you enter your proxy until you are the winner.
What is the Dynamic View?
The Dynamic View for the Domain Snapper Auctions, as the name infers, dynamically updates when other clients submit a bid, so you don't have to keep reloading your page. The Dynamic View also shows keys metrics for each domain name. For information on these metrics, read our metrics guide. Note, the Dynamic View is only available to clients who have subscribed to the Domain Snapper Auctions.
How much does it cost?
Once auction closes, the highest bidder wins, and using our Domain Snapper technology we will attempt to register the domain name the moment it expires in the highest bidders name. If we do not successfully register the domain name on your behalf (if a competitor beats us to the chase), you pay nothing. There is nothing to lose! In other words, we offer a NO WIN NO FEE policy!
