domain name sales – Netfleet Domain Blog https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog Netfleet.com.au | The .AU Aftermarket Tue, 26 Sep 2017 03:26:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.3 Domain Name Sales Activity – 22nd May to 11th June https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-summary-22nd-may-to-11th-june/ Tue, 13 Jun 2017 01:30:22 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1731 It’s been a while since our last sales update, but that’s only given the buyers out there a chance to cash up and collect some quality names. Business oriented domains were the names of choice in the last few weeks, with several companies stepping in to pick up descriptive keyword names.

The highest selling domain for the period was in the legal sector, with wirolawyers.com.au exceeding the $5,000 mark. In fact, including commissions, the name was picked up for $5,549.45 by Walker Law Pty Ltd. Those within the legal industry would be familiar with the acronym “WIRO”. However, for those outside the sector, it should be worth noting that “WIRO” stands for WorkCover Independent Review Office.

In this instance, the legal firm who picked up the domain is a WIRO approved business, and also works with the body to help with grants of legal assistance. Given the importance of the acronym within the workers compensation legal sector, Walker Law are well positioned to capture search traffic relative to other legal providers who are also approved by the body. This could make a notable difference in attracting new clients and growing billable hours.

Next is a particularly niche and peculiar domain. Last week, jefferies.com.au was registered for the total sum of $1,831.45. Some people out there might question the value a name like this could afford its new registrant, however, this is indeed a very astute acquisition. From what we’ve been able to gauge, the new registrant, Friarrun Pty Ltd, operates supermarkets under the name Jefferies Family Supermarket. As such, the business has been using this long domain name as its official website. With a shorter and more memorable domain in its possession, it is almost inevitable the company will retain both names and use them to redirect to the same site. This will help prevent a potential loss of web traffic associated with longer domain names.

One of our past business clients is back to add a new name to their portfolio. On this occasion, Armstrong Legal has registered assaultlawyer.com.au, paying $1,479.45 in the process. As alluded to earlier, there is a competitive advantage for legal firms to own domain names which correspond with common legal search terms. Having a generic yet descriptive name like assault lawyer can generate a new wave of web traffic if utilized correctly with appropriate SEO optimization.

Another descriptive name makes the cut, with diamondweddingrings.com.au our 4th highest selling domain from the last 3 weeks. While business owners have featured among the buyers so far, this name was attained by one of our regular domainers. The search interest for the term ‘diamond wedding rings’ is at the volatile end of the scale, including some regular and considerable peaks across the last 5 years. There would be no shortage of jewellers interested in a name like this, so we’re confident the name will be able to deliver a return on its $1,137.35 price tag when resold.

Last but not least, the above domainer has also secured a second name in equipment.com.au. This domain aligns with one of the domainer’s current registered businesses, offering them further flexibility with regards to using it as a related term for their earthworks business, or instead holding onto it as an investment that would attract interest from end users in the machine hire industry among others. For the lowly price of $1,040.55, we think it’s a great purchase.

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Best wishes,

Domain Name Sales Activity – 13th February to 26th February https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/domain-sales/domain-name-sales-activity-13th-february-to-26th-february/ Mon, 27 Feb 2017 14:35:06 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1582 The momentum continues from our last premium domain name sales report, with 5 names making an appearance in this edition. Descriptive keyword domains and acronyms make up all of those which feature, highlighting once again the underlying demand for domain names of this nature.

With an exchange price of $3,074.45, mattressesmelbourne.com.au was our highest selling domain from the last fortnight. The name was secured by a domain investment company, who also scooped up one of the other names to feature on our list. The name is likely to appeal to end users who are involved within the retailing of mattresses. Thus, with a target keyword included in its name, as well as a geographically pointed domain, the domain could attract notable web traffic if aligned with an SEO optimised website.

Skipping down the list for a moment, and it’s easy to see why the same owner opted for melbournemattresses.com.au. This name was acquired for the slightly lower value of $2,249.45, however, the owner is well positioned in that they are able to offer the two domains as a bundle to prospective end users. As with the aforementioned name, this one will service a targeted market, and captures traffic from an alternative search flow.

Slotting in between these two names was the acronym domain bnb.com.au. The name was secured for the modest value of $2,425.45. Considering the surge of activity for P2P accommodation provider AirBnB, this name could look to leverage the increasing trend towards bed and breakfast accommodation options. Alternatively, the name could appeal to those who intend to use it as an acronym for their business and make their website easier to find for customers. Accordingly, there would certainly be a lot of keen eyes monitoring this name if it were to be on-sold in the future.

Another acronym caught the attention a high profile client, with lnp.com.au registered for $1,897.45. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the new holder of the name is the Liberal National Party. Given they already own the .org equivalent, naturally this was the next step for the party to protect its branding. Currently, with a .org domain, some web users may have difficulty finding the site because the TLD is generally less known about. Thus, capturing an additional TLD will help capture an abundance of previously ‘lost’ web traffic.

Our fifth and final name is retainingwalls.com.au, which was the subject of a transaction worth $1,040.55. Securing the name was a related business, Earthworks.com.au Pty Ltd. Given the similar aspects these two names share within the same industry, it is foreseeable that the name could be used as either a replacement or supplementary service for the company. With the value of the name driven by its informative keywords, users who search for retaining walls are likely to see this domain as one of the leading search results – provided the new registrant capitalises on the name with strong SEO.

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Domain Name Sales Activity – 19th September to 25th September https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-sales-activity-19th-september-to-25th-september/ Sun, 25 Sep 2016 16:27:36 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1185 Another week has seen Netfleet involved in the exchange of four premium domain names. This week saw a variety of names break the $1,000 mark – from keywords for services and products, to a short punchy name, and there was even a two letter name which changed hands. Here are the details.

Our highest selling domain for the week went to chic.com.au, which was acquired on the 22nd of September by a private domain name investor for the sum of $1,404.65. The investor in question has opted to park and advertise the domain for resale. With the short, recognisable and punchy nature of the name, it could be well suited among end users who operate within the design or fashion industries, and perhaps those with an emphasis towards arts and crafts.

Courtesy of a steady trend in terms of Google search traffic, and what appears to be an annual spike each mid-to-late May, having several target markets positions the new owner favourably to turn the domain for a profit.

In second place, yx.com.au was acquired by City Auto Pty Ltd for $1,369.45. In what appears to be another domain name investment, the name is also being advertised for sale. Two letter domains are not commonly available, however when they do sell, they tend to command a higher price due to the short nature of their name and use as an abbreviation. Whether “yx” will be able to fulfil this purpose remains to be seen, but we’ll be keeping an eye out.

Next up, one business owner was fortunate to scope out an ideal name for their business, securing exteriorpainting.com.au. The new owner in question is Pacific Building Services Pty Ltd, a construction company specialising in a wide scope of construction services and who provide building contractors for Sydney customers.

This is a complementary name with strong keywords that will either point to the company’s existing business, or stand alone as a separate website. Search traffic for the term “exterior painting” is fairly unpredictable, with traffic thus far coming from the eastern states – most prominently, Queensland. The domain was purchased for the modest sum of $1,259.45.

The last of the four premium domain names to sell during the week was vinyl.com.au. Purchased by The Trustee for Rocket Records Trust, the domain has been activated straight away and points towards the associated business’ existing domain, vinyldestination.com.au. As you may have guessed, Vinyl Destination’s primary business involves retail sales of vinyl LPs and records to the public.

The business notes a resurgence in the demand for vinyl records, and Google search trends back this up with a significant upwards trend across the last five years. The keyword domain is one that is sure to boost web traffic to the business’ website, and for $1,167.05, this could be one of those success stories we’ll hear more about in the future!

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Domain Name Sales Activity – 29th August to 11th September https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-sales-activity-29th-august-to-11th-september/ Mon, 12 Sep 2016 01:40:09 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1153 Spring is upon us, and with a change of seasons it appears some business owners were keen to secure themselves a new domain through Netfleet. The last fortnight saw three premium domain names sell for in excess of $1,000, with each representing a high quality purchase at great prices.

Our highest selling domain across the last fortnight went to openpay.com.au, which sold on the 2nd of September for a final sum of $3,679.45. A fitting purchase, the new owner in instance is none other than Openpay Pty Ltd, an online payment facilitation business that also operates under the name Jam Payments Pty Ltd.

While Australians only make 10 Google searches per month for the terms “open pay”, this is one instance where the new owner will be able to align their brand and domain. Given the brand is somewhat new in this instance (as the company has been operating with the aforementioned Jam Payments name), one can expect search traffic to increase when marketing efforts kick off. Having been incorporated for several years, it would seem this is a patient acquisition for the business, and one that should help them grow via a memorable name.

Sliding into second place this edition, dao.com.au was snapped up by Southbank Constructions Pty Ltd for $1,699.45. Although at first glance it might appear there is little to tie the company to the domain name, in fact, it aligns with the individual registrant behind the company.

Securing a domain that aligns with one’s personal name is a practice sometimes adopted by entrepreneurial business owners with a vision to build a ‘wider’ brand. With this domain being three letters, there’s also a higher intrinsic value if said owner decides to part ways with the name in the future.

Taking out the bronze medal this time around was invogue.com.au, which went to another company involved within the building industry, Residential Building WA Pty Ltd. The transaction was settled for $1,149.45, and regardless of its intended use, appears to represent sound value.

Firstly, not only does the name contain a very catchy and well-known idiom, but it’s also a short one at that. Furthermore, the phrase is often applied across a series of contextual applications. In the business realm, a name such as this would likely hold value to companies operating within the fashion and/or design space. This is a positive as whenever you have a name targeted to more than one sector, you increase the chances of a bidding war should you resell the name.

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.
