Updates – Netfleet Domain Blog https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog Netfleet.com.au | The .AU Aftermarket Tue, 26 Sep 2017 03:26:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.3 Bug Report https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/uncategorized/bug-report/ Thu, 10 Dec 2015 02:28:41 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1036 “Names appearing on the wrong day”

Recently Netfleet identified a bug in the system which was displaying a small pool of names for auction 24hrs early.

Ausregistry publishes its official drop list in UTC time, often with several days worth of data. Netfleet takes this list several times an hour and slices it up into daily auction lists. These lists are converted to AEST with auctions ending at 1pm or during day light saving AEDT with auctions ending at 2pm.

As a result names published from Ausregistry as dropping between 3am UTC on day X and 3am UTC on day Y will be published as the active auction list for day Y.

During the change for AEST to AEDT several variables need to be updated to reflect the change and appropriately shift the auction. It appears one of these variables had been missed during the change over or accidentally reverted during an update (we are still reviewing change control to identify which is the case but have applied checks to ensure this issue does not resurface in the future).

As a result of this incorrect variable names marked to be dropping between 3am UTC and 4am UTC where being incorrectly shown on the list. In many cases this was not an issue as the names where of little interest, However due to internal ranking of names some more prominent names where displayed incorrectly, with the result of auction on the incorrect day being a failure as a result of the name not dropping.

Netfleet is continuing to monitor this bug but believes the root cause has been identified and the bug resolved.

We apologies to any affected clients and thank those who brought this to our attention and assisted with resolution.

Fixed bid option is back! https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/domain-snapper/fixed-bid-option-is-back/ Tue, 13 Aug 2013 01:42:17 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=915 We have just re-introduced the fixed bid ability in the single domain view again, this time it is available in an optional format so you can place an initial fixed bid if you wish and a backup proxy bid above it too.

You’ll notice the Auctions page each domain now has a hyperlink to a single page view. This shows the domain broken down in to it’s simplest view, whilst having all the information you would ever require, just a short click away on the same page.

You can read about the different bid options here Bids and Offers on Netfleet.

We hope the return of this old feature works well for seasoned domain investors and new comers alike

Thanks
The Netfleet Team

Merry Christmas from Netfleet https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/updates/merry-christmas-from-netfleet/ Wed, 19 Dec 2012 05:20:03 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=723

Merry Christmas from Netfleet

What happened to 2012?! As ever, it seems to have flown by as 2013 is upon us. It’s hard to believe that is has already been 4 1/2 years since the policy prohibiting Australian domain name sales was lifted. The domain investment community has grown from nothing to a busy, burgeoning industry that we are all part of, and no more so than in the past 12 months, thanks to the enthusiasm of buyers and sellers in our community, and through great domain name forums such as DNTrade.com.au.

Domain Name Trading on Netfleet in 2012

We are delighted to have sold a whopping 12,062 domain names in 2012 – an average of 33 every single day. We’ve also had some big sales this year, with some of most notable 5 figure sales to go through the door being:

HomeLoanCalculator.com.au

$33,001

CarInsurance.net.au

$30,001

CreditReport.com.au

$27,500

CreditCards.net.au

$22,002

CentralCoast.com.au

$22,000

Credit.com.au

$18,190

WeddingInvitations.com.au

$17,001

CarAuctions.com.au

$14,001

FreeBets.com.au

$13,345

It has been a record breaking year for .au domain name values, with prices nearly doubling. This is an encouraging metric for the future, and expected to continue for 2013 and beyond. You can search on our entire list of past domain name sales on Netfleet by going to our Research page, or if you prefer a graphical view of how the market is changing, be sure to check out our Domain Sales Graphs. There has never been a better time to build your portfolio – don’t forget our Auctions run every single day – and that includes Christmas Day.

Netfleet – The Number 1 Registrar in Australia

This year, we launched our public facing registrar system, and finally we were able to manage your domain names for you. “Built by domainers – for domainers” probably best describes our platform, and we have paid a huge amount of attention to bulk/mass functionality to cater for large domain portfolio owners – with bulk renewals, transfers, change of registrants, name server updates, and many other tools.

What’s more, our renewal rate for domain names is just $18.43 inc GST. These features have helped make us the Number 1 registrar in Australia for inbound transfers.

Transferring to a different registrar in Australia is free – so to see what all the hype is about, and transfer your domains to Netfleet.

A Lick of Paint and More

Another big change for us was the overhaul of our site, with a fresh new design and some important sales process changes. The design was created with simplicity in mind, to help attract new retail buyers to your domain names for sale. We’ve cut back on complication, and streamlined our sign up process which has seen a significant increase in new clients, helping us to record just fewer than 17,000 registered buyers and sellers. So welcome to clients new and old!

The biggest change to our sales process was the merging of our expired domain auction (both Australia and New Zealand), and our aftermarket auction in to the one platform. This means buyer focus is no longer diluted between the three, and all eyes are on the one auction platform, which ends every day at 2pm AEDT. This change has been quite dramatic and has more than doubled the number of sales per day, increased the average price by 40% with the total turnover per day quadrupling! So what are you waiting for? Auction your domain names now.

We have many exciting new initiatives to bring you in 2013 to help you buy and sell Australian domain names. As ever we value your feedback, comments and suggestions, so please do Contact Us and get in touch with one of the team.

From the whole team at Netfleet.com.au we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Important Changes to Netfleet – Please Read Carefully https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/updates/important-changes-to-netfleet-please-read-carefully/ Wed, 07 Nov 2012 23:55:08 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=710 We have been busy updating the look and feel of Netfleet.com.au, and need to make you aware of some important changes that affect you.

Auctions

We have now merged all the different auction platforms on Netfleet in to the one – Snapper Australia, Snapper New Zealand and the Aftermarket Auctions now sit side by side on the one auction:

https://www.netfleet.com.au/auction/

As usual, we run a daily auction, however now all auctions will finish at the same time each day – 2pm AEST (Sydney time).  This includes New Zealand domains.

We have also removed the first bidder discount of $10 from all of our auctions, to remain consistent across the auctions.  Furthermore for consistency, all starting bids in our Auctions are $10, unless there is a reserve set.   All current domains in the what was called Aftermarket Auctions, have retained their default reserve of $100, however new domains added to our auctions will have a starting bid of $10, unless you set a reserve (which is free if your domain is with Netfleet).

For expired domain names, we have removed the standard cost of registration previously charged, and replaced it with a Buyers Premium (see below).

8% Commission for Domain Catalogue

Previously called our Standard Catalogue Listings, now renamed to Domain Catalogue, we are now charging 8% commission on final sale price.  The final sale price also no longer includes GST (if applicable depending on the sellers GST status).   All existing Domain Catalogue listings that have a Buy Now price, have automatically been increased by 8%.

Buyers Premium

The Buyers Premium is charged to all buyers on Netfleet, and includes the change of registrant cost/new registration cost, administration, and securely managing funds.   This amount is in addition to the winning bid amount, or offer amount, and is mandatory for all domains bought on Netfleet.

The Buyers Premium is $49.95 inc GST.

It is important to note in the case of expired domains for Australia and New Zealand, this fee replaces the cost of registration fee that applied before, which equates to the same charge.

We hope you enjoy the new Netfleet, if you have any question as ever, please Contact Us.
