Expired Domains – Netfleet Domain Blog https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog Netfleet.com.au | The .AU Aftermarket Tue, 26 Sep 2017 03:26:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.3 Domain Name Sales Activity – 29th August to 11th September https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-sales-activity-29th-august-to-11th-september/ Mon, 12 Sep 2016 01:40:09 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1153 Spring is upon us, and with a change of seasons it appears some business owners were keen to secure themselves a new domain through Netfleet. The last fortnight saw three premium domain names sell for in excess of $1,000, with each representing a high quality purchase at great prices.

Our highest selling domain across the last fortnight went to openpay.com.au, which sold on the 2nd of September for a final sum of $3,679.45. A fitting purchase, the new owner in instance is none other than Openpay Pty Ltd, an online payment facilitation business that also operates under the name Jam Payments Pty Ltd.

While Australians only make 10 Google searches per month for the terms “open pay”, this is one instance where the new owner will be able to align their brand and domain. Given the brand is somewhat new in this instance (as the company has been operating with the aforementioned Jam Payments name), one can expect search traffic to increase when marketing efforts kick off. Having been incorporated for several years, it would seem this is a patient acquisition for the business, and one that should help them grow via a memorable name.

Sliding into second place this edition, dao.com.au was snapped up by Southbank Constructions Pty Ltd for $1,699.45. Although at first glance it might appear there is little to tie the company to the domain name, in fact, it aligns with the individual registrant behind the company.

Securing a domain that aligns with one’s personal name is a practice sometimes adopted by entrepreneurial business owners with a vision to build a ‘wider’ brand. With this domain being three letters, there’s also a higher intrinsic value if said owner decides to part ways with the name in the future.

Taking out the bronze medal this time around was invogue.com.au, which went to another company involved within the building industry, Residential Building WA Pty Ltd. The transaction was settled for $1,149.45, and regardless of its intended use, appears to represent sound value.

Firstly, not only does the name contain a very catchy and well-known idiom, but it’s also a short one at that. Furthermore, the phrase is often applied across a series of contextual applications. In the business realm, a name such as this would likely hold value to companies operating within the fashion and/or design space. This is a positive as whenever you have a name targeted to more than one sector, you increase the chances of a bidding war should you resell the name.

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Best wishes,

Domain Name Sales Activity – 24th August to 28th August https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-sales-activity-24th-august-to-28th-august/ Sun, 28 Aug 2016 22:28:36 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1136 Securing its place as one of the most active weeks for sales at Netfleet, we’ve seen significant interest for expired domains. In fact, in less than a week, we finalised sales for six premium domain names over $1,000! Looking back at the last 11 days, we’re averaging approximately one premium domain name sale per day! This means, if you’re chasing a particular domain, you’ll have to act decisively to secure it.

Making its way to the top of the list for the week, financeaustralia.com.au was sold on the 26th of August for $3,459.45. Its new owner, Tan & Tan Australia Pty Ltd, is a company trading with several businesses, including within the finance sector (home and automotive loans). With this business, the company has been using the domain: financeaustralia.info.

Having now secured the equivalent name for the much more popular .com.au TLD, the business is very well placed to receive a boost in web traffic and generate potential new business. Securing the equivalent .com.au domain is something we wrote about recently, and it’s great to see one of our customers has done exactly this through an astute purchase!

Also selling on the same day, for a price of $2,698.25, was kq.com.au. Another company trading with several business names, it is likely this domain was picked up for investment purposes, or on behalf of a client. After all, with the premium that two letter domains provide, it’s foreseeable that someone else could be prepared to offer more to benefit from the short, and memorable, nature of the name.

Next up, cgh.com.au was settled for a final sum of $2,117.45. With its three letter name serving as an abbreviation, it was no surprise to see the new owner of this domain being CGH Group Pty Ltd, a company that is also known as Corestaff – a recruitment specialist in the mining, construction and energy industries. A perfect fit aligning the domain and company name, we expect to see a strong brand developed, which will in turn help with marketing efforts.

With its SEO-rich keywords, it was only a matter of time before goldcoastluxuryhomes.com.au was snapped up – in this instance, for a very modest sum of $1,699.45. When it comes to marketing properties within the real estate industry, there are few assets more valuable than a strong, descriptive domain with an exact match.

Serving as another example of how desirable it is to align a domain with your company name, we were pleased to see headlands.com.au end up with Headlands Distilling Company Pty Ltd. Selling earlier for a fee of $1,314.45, the company now has the foundation from which they can launch their image to customers in a recognisable manner.

Last but not least, we were thrilled to help Sunraysia Pipes and Products secure the .com.au equivalent of their current domain. Currently using sunraysiapipes.net.au, the business has now secured sunraysiapipes.com.au. We have little doubt this domain will quickly deliver returns that far exceed the cost of $1,094.45.

After all, the fact that this domain was picked up means that someone else may have been using it previously, so the owner has effectively safeguarded the virtual naming rights of their brand. They’re also far less likely to lose potential web traffic, and customers, including those who were previously forgetting to type .net.au. This is no longer a worry and the owner can point the two domains.

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Best wishes,

HomeLoanCalculator.com.au sells for $33,001 https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/uncategorized/homeloancalculator-com-au-sells-for-33001/ Mon, 26 Mar 2012 05:42:05 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=589 Snapper AuctionToday we saw the auction and subsequent snapping of the domain HomeLoanCalculator.com.au at Netfleet.com.au for $33,001 after it was allowed to expire by the previous owner.

According to Google the exact search phrase “home loan calculator” is searched for in Australia 33,100 times a month.  Meaning it sold for basically $1 for every monthly search, which looks like a fantastic deal when you consider that a click for this very competitive search term is worth about $5,65.

It is worth remembering that with expired domains the buyer only had 24 hours to made a decision and to get involved so the true market value of a domain like this is actually much higher.

Single Domain Page with Fixed Bid Option https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/expired-domains/single-domain-page-with-fixed-bid-option/ Wed, 29 Feb 2012 06:12:05 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=583 Our developers have been busy, and just completed their latest task on Netfleet, and rolled out a single domain view, with fixed bid ability for our Snapper Auctions.

You’ll notice on the Snapper Auctions page each domain now has a hyperlink to a single page view. This shows the domain broken down in to it’s simplest view, whilst having all the information you would ever require, just a short click away on the same page.

A big change for this view is fixed bidding. Traditionally, all bids were proxy/automatic bids on our Snapper Auctions, however in the single domain view, it is now fixed bids – the price you enter will be a fixed bid on the domain. Read about Bids and Offers on Netfleet.

We hope this new feature and view works well for seasoned domain investors and new comers alike

Thanks

Creditcards.net.au sets a new .net.au record https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/creditcards-net-au-record/ https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/creditcards-net-au-record/#comments Fri, 03 Feb 2012 08:47:24 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=574 Today saw the release of the premium generic keyword domain Creditcards.net.au. In a furious public auction today this domain reached the .net.au record setting price of $22,002, surpassing the recently announced sale of the closely related Creditcard.net.au which was sold late last year for $18,200. This is now the highest publicly recorded sale of a .net.au for a domain name only. Showing that for premium generic keyword domains a .net.au is still a domain worth owning.

Netfleet was pleased to snap this domain for our client. It will be interesting to see what they do with this domain name as it is a fiercely competitive keyword. Today the top ranking domain for the keyword “creditcards” at google.com.au is credit-cards.net.au outranking creditcard.com.au by three places, showing that “com” is not always king.

InvestmentProperty.com.au breaking all records https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/domain-sales/investmentproperty-com-au-breaking-all-records/ https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/domain-sales/investmentproperty-com-au-breaking-all-records/#comments Thu, 15 Sep 2011 07:54:26 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=485 City Apparments Investment Property Today we saw the purge and subsequent snapping of InvestmentProperty.com.au. It was a very exciting auction with the price breaking our previous highest sale of Electricity.com.au for 30K with more than an hour left on the auction. When the hammer fell at one minute to one we had a new record highest sale price at Netfleet.com.au of $125,001 (xGST). This is the highest publicly recorded sale of a .com.au at this time with only the domain included – a clear indicator of how the Australian domain name market has matured over the past few years. Amazingly, this domain was allowed to expire by the previous registrant.

It will be interesting to see what the new registrant, Steven Rollan of MAD CAT PTY LIMITED, will do with this high quality name in a market which is very close to home for most investors.

I’d personally love to know why the previous registrant, Anthony Ziino of INVESTMENT PROPERTY SOLUTIONS, did not renew the name but suspect that I’ll never find out.

Thanks to all the participants in today’s auction who saw value in this domain, as we only charge $1 more than the next highest bidder, so without a bit of competition this name could have been snapped for as little as $10.

Two Huge Snapper Days – 28th and 29th June! https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/expired-domains/two-huge-snapper-days-28th29th-june/ https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/expired-domains/two-huge-snapper-days-28th29th-june/#comments Fri, 24 Jun 2011 01:04:14 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=184 On the 28th and 29th June there is an exceptional list of domain names that are due to expire, and will be listed on our Domain Snapper Auctions.

The following domain names are in pendingDelete status – which means auDA have instructed the registrar to delete the domain names due to a breach in policy by the registrant. Domain names in pendingDelete can sometimes be contested by the registrant, and un-deleted, however with these domain names this is highly unlikely.

Due to the quality of these generic domain names, we wanted to give you a bit of advance notice and post details of these domain names, and some helpful metrics:
