Best Practice for Domain Listings

Best Practice for Domain Listings

If you’ve listed your domain on Netfleet and would like to see some more activity, here are some ideas to help. We understand that our ranking system is somewhat complicated so we’ve tried to break it down into several easy points to consider. If you have and specific questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

1) Starting Price. make this as low as possible. $50 – $200 is recommended. This does NOT equate to your reserve price – it’s just the minimum offer than can be forwarded to you. You are then advised to counter which should steadily elicit higher offers closer to your desired target price. Just the very fact that your domain has an offer will greatly increase activity because a)many people only search for domains that have offers, b) it will push your domain to the front page, c) It will increase your listing’s Quality Score and therefore your ranking in searches on the site.

2) Target Price. We know this is a tough one. It can be very hard to put a value on your domain and we understand the fear of limiting the upside by doing so. However by not putting a figure here, you can really hurt your chances of a sale as it means much less exposure for the domain. Our advice – go with your gut. What would you be happy with? Then double or even triple that figure and put that as your target price. Even an optimistic target price is better than none at all.

3) For Sale Banner. You may also choose to promote your domain and a good place to do this is on the website itself. A ‘for sale’ banner on the resolved domain can drastically increase visits to your domain listing which in turn will help your ranking on the site (creating a snowball effect with respect to ranking and exposure within Netfleet). 4)Premium Listing Features. Yes, these cost money (but we still don’t charge commissions for sales, so please don’t begrudge us that!) but are worth looking at if you are keen to get some traction. Some features that were previously booked out are now available so you get more for your money than ever before. However make sure you cross off the no-cost listing recommendations before doing this.
