Domain Name Sales Activity – 1st May to 7th May

May begins with another sales report for our premium domain names. This time there were 4 registrations in the last week, including a couple acronyms among them.

The leading name for the week was, which was secured for $5,549.45 by VIBP Pty Ltd. The multi faceted company operates in a variety of sectors supporting organisations with knowledge and expertise, and via media and publishing engagements. The company has secured the name in what appears to be a program management solution for the website

Currently the new domain is being redirected to the abovementioned awardsfocussed domain. Not only does this strategy preserve original web traffic, but it also targets a broader catchment. The extent of this broader catchment is also quite notable among search interest on the east coast of Australia. The two domains are also associated as related queries in Google, which means prospective visitors should have an easier time locating the website.

We have an acronym sliding into second place this week courtesy of For the total sum of $1,864.45, the domain was registered by marketing agency Prodigy Plus. Although not immediately clear, it’s likely the name has been purchased for a client either current, or prospective. The acronym itself is commonly used among IT and/or quality related applications, offering breadth among end users. QPI will also afford an end user a much more user friendly option for its visitors to visit the site via direct searches.

Our second acronym domain for the week was The name was secured by nutritional food powder manufacturer, Nutradry. It’s not immediately clear whether the new domain will be affiliated or related to Nutradry in any way. However, with the versatility that acronym names provide, this is one of the major upsides that support the premium valuation given to these type of names. In this instance, while the premium is small the name went for $1,644.45 acronyms can appeal to particular users who end up paying a lot more than normal for a name that is ‘ideal’ for them.

Closing out this week’s report, our fourth premium domain to be officially tied up was The name was acquired for $1,424.45 by a sole trader currently operating the domain. A localized domain targeting a specific sector of the industry will not only attract a focussed catchment of web traffic, but it will add some sense of assurance by way of the .au handle. Earlier this year, the same registrant picked up, suggesting the holder is keen to establish an overarching portfolio of domains that connect to their business. All in all, this is a very astute strategy given the increased avenues for attracting business in what is a very competitive space.
